Theotokos of Vladimir Icon

(Oil 9x12") 2008/08/19 A study of Theotokos, well known and venerated by the Eastern Orthodox and based on Theotokos of Vladmir. Eusebius suggest that St Luke was the first veneration of Iconography who also wrote Luke and Acts. Packer and Calvin conclude that it is wrong to use pictures as scripture for the illerate so this is purely for artwork and not employed in service. Theotokos means God Bearer, and I appreciate this painting, since Mary is not esteemed in Protestantism due to the abuses of Catholicism.
